Chromium

Chromium is a chemical element (Cr) and hard, corrosion-resistant metal with a high melting point. Chromium is used in a wide range of applications such as:

  • In-chrome plating, as alloy in stainless steel
  • Wood treatment
  • Dyes and paints (i.e. emerald green, synthetic rubies, yellow for paint)
  • Chemical reagent used in cleaning laboratory glassware
  • As an anti-corrosive in drilling muds
